What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: Being stuck in a life-long cycle of self-loathing
Where would you like to live?: In the countryside, close to a big city, my parents, and France
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: To have the financial means and free time to pursue my passions
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: To those that cannot be helped
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: The ones in which there is a reflection of one of the more repressed elements of my own character
Who are your favorite characters in history?: All who lived before modern day civilization
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: My mother, my yoga teacher, and the women I meet who posess an outstanding combination of grace and firmness
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: Gudrun, Madea, Elizabeth Bennet
Your favorite painter?: I can't say I esteem one in particular over many others. I do like Matisse and Cezane.
Your favorite musician?: I don't have one. I think opera as a genre is the closest to my ideal music.
The quality you most admire in a man?: Intuition, work ethic
The quality you most admire in a woman?: Discernment, courage
Your favorite virtue?: The one that is the most relevant and helpful in a given situation.
Your favorite occupation?: Drinking tea, raising chickens, reading fiction
Who would you have liked to be?: I think I am most comfortable with my own place in the world. Being anyone else seems daunting.
Your most marked characteristic?: It doesn't take much to for me to be enthusiastic or excited about something
What do you most value in your friends?: Loyalty, intelligence
What is your principle defect?: Quickness to rage, bitterness, coldness
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?: Never feeling connected with nature
What would you like to be?: A wealthier, less hot-tempered version of myself
What is your favorite color?: I love all colors, however pastels in general are usually not prefered above the others.
What is your favorite flower?: I rank fragrance above form
What is your favorite bird?: Chickens
Who are your favorite prose writers?: The old standbys are Bronte, Austen, Hugo, Hemmingway...but I am discovering new treasures all the time
Who are your favorite poets?: Auden, and more poems than I can list
Who are your heroes in real life?: My father, my brother
Who are your favorite heroines of history?: Elizabeth I
What are your favorite names?: William, for a girl
What is it you most dislike?: Physical discomfort of any kind
What historical figures do you most despise?: Cesar
What event in military history do you most admire?: Resistance to tyranny...I can't name a single event
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: Natural likeable-ness
How would you like to die?: Unaware, perhaps in a forest, where I will lay down one day and no one will ever find me
What is your present state of mind?: Self-doubt, anxiousness
What is your motto?: Everything comes to he (she) who hustles while he waits.
