What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: To be left to my own devices

Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: Those who supersede my small powers in moral matters
Who are your favorite characters in history?: Jesus, Paul the Apostle, C.S. Lewis, Robin Hood
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: A woman of genius leading an extraordinary life but being untainted by it
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: Almost all of them. A woman's only defect is that in real life they find supernaturally unquantifiable ways to disappoint, a quality that has never been successfully captured in fiction.
