What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: To have in oneself no sense of power or ability; despair in one's own chances of success.
Where would you like to live?: Close enough to enjoy the company of people, far enough to get away from them too.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: I can answer this no better than Proust did - with the exception, rather a fast Internet connection than a French theater.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: All of them
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: They who take arms against a sea of troubles with both force and subtlety: Obi-Wan, Muad'Dib, James Kirk, Randall McMurphy
Who are your favorite characters in history?: The heretics; they who live for the truth without regard to what that may cost.

What event in military history do you most admire?: There is little if anything to admire in military history. If pressed, the American Revolution.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: Unshakeable confidence
How would you like to die?: With a monkey wrench in my hand, shoving it into the guts of the engines of death
What is your present state of mind?: Rage at the beasts whose memory was stirred up by the question about historical figures I most despise.
What is your motto?: Ask not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country? Answer: in a society that has abolished every kind of adventure, the only adventure that remains is to abolish the society!
