What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
To be completely dishonest and in self-denial, to have no sense of identity
Where would you like to live?
New York City, the most artistically progressive area
What is your idea of earthly happiness?
Everyone doing what they feel like doing, sans the stuff that harms people/things/plants/etc.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
oh, I am absolutely within myself sometimes. At times, even the physical outer world feels like another atmosphere; that's how self-indulgent I can become.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
Prior Walter, Lester Burnham, Lloyd Dobler, Joel Barish, everyone Jimmy Stewart ever played, Belize, Cal Stephanides, Septimus Warren Smith, and many more.
Who are your favorite characters in history?
The studio stars of the 20s-40s. They were American gods/goddesses.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
ugh. where do I begin? SO many, beginning with the Almodovarian Hispanic women of my youth to now.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
Daria, Astrid Magnussen, Margo Channing, Annie Hall, all the women in an Almodovar movie (hate to be redundant, but his films are too good to be forgotten), Clementine Kruczynski, Marge Gunderson, all the characters in Bjork songs, Karen Walker, etc. etc.
Your favorite painter?
Picasso
Your favorite musician?
Joni Mitchell
The quality you most admire in a man?
Sincere romance, the kind that springs up because it feels like his birth right.
The quality you most admire in a woman?
All she needs is to be a real woman, just by being herself and not letting influences become what makes her tick.
Your favorite virtue?
I can't answer that at this moment.
Your favorite occupation?
Writing poetry. It's meant to be.
Who would you have liked to be?
Nothing else except a poet.
Your most marked characteristic?
A jagged sort of beauty within.
What do you most value in your friends?
Pure love in the unconditional category.
What is your principle defect?
I can't mention it because it will then ruin my day. So, I guess denial? Better yet, my penchant for miscommunication. That's the ticket.
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?
So many options, it's horrid.
What would you like to be?
The best version of myself at all times.

Deep, deep red.

The ones in poetry

Woolf, Yates, Kerouac, Eugenides, plenty upon plenty of short story writers. I love your works more with time.
Who are your favorite poets?
Sharon Olds, Billy Collins, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Bukowski, Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple, TS Eliot, Pablo Neruda, and populations worth more. I read new poets every single day and I'm astonshed at how much great stuff is still churning out there.
Who are your heroes in real life?
My mother and sister, a multitude of artists, the Mirabal sisters

Mariah Carey. Hilarity and/or massive sing-a-long ensues.
What is it you most dislike?
Artistry and truth being repressed under an iron fist.
What historical figures do you most despise?
Plenty, from Hitler to Hays.
What event in military history do you most admire?
The times they weren't allowed to interfere where they didn't belong. So, not many events.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?
talent in the visual sense (painting, sculpting, etc.)
How would you like to die?
Tragically, rescuing my family from the wreckage of a destroyed sinking battleship.
What is your present state of mind?
It's a nice feeling, very reflective and calm yet brewing with an artistic intensity (that's a good thing, believe me)
